(24 JAN 09) - Rappelling Training at Fox Kits

Venturers and Scouts are introduced to rappelling equipment and proper rappelling and belay techniques on a slope less than 60 degrees. Left: Scout releases grip on rope to build confidence in his equipment and the belay-man below who holds him in place. Confidence and skills developed in training like this will allow the crew to work on the sides of slopes and vertical faces in a hands-free manner to allow treatment and recovery of injured persons .

(21 FEB 09) - Wilderness First Aid Refresher Training at Fox Kits

The crew "BEAMs" Melisa into a hypothermia wrap basket litter after treating her for a suspected neck injury and a broken femur. All crew members are wilderness first aid certified and maintain a high level of proficiency through continual refresher training. The types and degree of emergency medical care practiced far exceed that of standard urban first aid courses offered to the general public.
